Em grew up in the Midwest and was an avid dancer. Jazz, tap, ballet, poms, hip hop — they did it all, even serving as their high school's dance team captain. Em's love affair with Pure Barre began in the summer of 2024, when they discovered a low-impact workout that felt like coming home: all the nostalgia of their ballet years, plus feeling a strength they'd never known they had. After moving to Portland in the summer of 2025, Em joined Pure Barre Broadway and found an immediate sense of belonging and safety. Outside the studio, you'll find Em working as a mental health therapist for teens — or out in the mountains backpacking with their dog, Echo.
