Where are you originally from?I’m from Atlanta, Georgia, but have lived here in Winston-Salem since 2011. My husband, Kevin, and I moved here for him to go to business school at Wake Forest University thinking we’d be here just two years. We fell in love with the city and are so happy to be here more than a decade later! How did your Pure Barre Journey Start? I’d heard of Pure Barre, and was excited when a studio opened here in Winston-Salem! At the time, I was doing some freelance writing for The Winston-Salem Journal and was assigned an article covering the studio, since it had recently opened. I took my first class as research for that article and immediately fell in love. The rest is history! How long have you been with Pure Barre Winston-Salem?What is your favorite part about Pure Barre? I love that this is a workout that evolves alongside your life. It meets you where you are, but it also gives you the chance to push yourself in incredibly meaningful ways. As you get stronger, you find new ways to challenge yourself within it. If you are dealing with an injury or different stage in life, Pure Barre fits alongside that as well. I took Pure Barre throughout my two pregnancies and am SO grateful for the way it helped me remain strong during those chapters in my life – during pregnancy, yes, but also labor and delivery and postpartum, too! What is your favorite class format? Gosh, that’s such a tough question to answer! I love Empower for the cardio high it gives me, but Classic might be my favorite, since that’s where it all started for me. What do you do when you aren’t a Pure Barre (other jobs/hobbies, etc)? Kevin and I have two kids, Maggie and Vance, and I also work as a freelance writer and brand advocate and educator with the clean beauty brand Beautycounter. Pure Barre is truly my happy place, and I pinch myself often that teaching gets to be part of my life! What is one fun fact about yourself that you’d like to share? I have a blog, curiouser & curiouser, and corresponding podcast that I’ve loved as an outlet to share parts of my life, learn new things and then share about them, and have interesting conversations. It’s intentionally broad (because WE all are, too!) and covers a wide variety of topics including parenting, health and wellness, sustainability, and a whole lot more.
