Katy G.
Originally an Austin, Texas native, Katy Bayless Gibson was immersed in
competitive sports from a very early age thanks to the influence of her parents.
When she was young she became passionate about dance – participating in dance
competitions through her studio and with her high school dance team. Gibson
received a Marketing degree from Clemson University, where she was elected and
served as Student Body Vice President and Student Body President – the first
student ever to be elected to both positions. Katy was one of only a handful of
college students across the country selected to participate in the Commercial
Development Program with The Dow Chemical Company, working in Michigan and
then Atlanta, Georgia. It was during this time that she became an avid group fitness
participant, practicing yoga and spinning, and developed a passion for fitness and
self-improvement. Gibson returned to her alma mater after several years at Dow to
open the first Clemson University Office of Federal Relations in Washington, DC. It
was in our nation’s Capitol that Katy first heard about Pure Barre and it was love at
first class. In addition to owning the Pure Barre Virginia Highland studios, Katy
loves teaching Pure Barre and is a former Pure Barre Master Teacher Trainer. Her
favorite class is Reform and loves to end the day with a glass of pinot noir. Katy and
her husband, Ryan, live in East Atlanta with their two children Sophie and Grant.
Katy was voted as 2015’s Best Barre Instructor in Atlanta by Best Self Atlanta
magazine and has been featured as a fitness expert in JEZEBEL magazine.
