Melissa

As a child, Melissa spent most of her time outdoors swimming, water skiing, biking, hiking, snowboarding, dancing, and running. She started cheerleading as a young girl and continued throughout high school. While attending college at the University of Arizona, she pursued her love of fitness by taking hikes in the beautiful mountains, swimming, and going on long runs. After college, she moved to San Diego, CA and met her husband, Tony. Her daughter, Tatum, was born in March 2008, and soon after, they moved to Newport Beach, CA, which is where she discovered Pure Barre. She started taking classes as a way to exercise without straining her knees, to increase her flexibility, and to work on strength training. She fell in love with all the exercises and the class formats, and not surprisingly, her running improved, which was a total bonus. She also loved how the class filled her need for stretching and focused on lengthening the major muscle groups. As the story goes, her family grew from 3 to 4 in October 2011, when they welcomed her son, Wyatt, into their bunch. Soon after, her husband accepted a new position in the great state of Texas, and it was "Beach to Boots" for their family of 4. They moved to Frisco, Texas in January 2012, where she continued to run, as well as take Pure Barre classes. She began to feel deeply in her heart that one day, she wanted to teach Pure Barre, but she had been waiting for a studio to open closer to her home. When our Allen studio opened in 2014, Melissa was one of the very first teachers; (she was even at the ribbon-cutting ceremony!) She remains as in love with the technique as she was her very first day on the mic. When the previous owner relocated and sold the studios in 2020, Melissa was thrilled to become the new Studio Owner of Pure Barre Allen and McKinney. She has loved studio ownership so much that two just wasn’t enough, and she and her husband, Tony, decided to open a third studio in Prosper! Melissa loves the community we have at our studios and prioritizes that above all else. She loves sharing her passion for Pure Barre, her love for fitness, and her heart for helping others achieve their fitness goals. Her mom shared some amazing words with her that she holds close to her heart and lives by each day: “Live with purpose, follow your passion, and make a difference.” That is Pure Barre to Melissa. She tucks with purpose, and she can’t wait to lift, tone, and burn with you!
