Jill
Where are you from?
I'm from a small town in Michigan.
How long have you been teaching Pure Barre and what formats do you teach?
I've been teaching since 2015--I just passed my 10 year anniversary! 🤯 I teach all of our formats: Classic, Define, Empower, Align, and Engage
What’s your favorite move to teach and why?
I really enjoy teaching fold overs in seat because I feel like, especially for newer clients, it's where the Pure Barre "tuck" can really click for them. If I hold their hips tucked in that position and tell them to lift their leg from there, suddenly they feel the work intensely in the seat where it should be, and I can almost see that "aha" moment happen. And that tuck then translates everywhere else and they start to see real progress.
How do you stay motivated to show up and give your best?
I keep my mind active by learning new choreography, but I am always motivated by our clients. I've known many of them for years now, and it's so inspiring to see their progress, their highs and lows and life changes, and the way they keep showing up for themselves. As a mom, I am very aware that for many of our clients, this might be the only time they get for themselves in a day or a week, and I want to show up fully for that.
What do you love most about the Pure Barre community?
It feels incredibly positive! There isn't a sense of competition or cattiness; everyone is just there doing their own thing and rooting one another on. It's my happy place.
