What year and how were you introduced to PB? I took intro classes with various barre methods over the years but didn’t really like it or care much for the type of workout...The “boutique studio” thing was not my jam. I was used to heavy weights, warehouses, heavy competition, and feeling absolutely dead after working out. Something in my soul (and body!) knew I needed something different in this season (30’s and after kids), and that’s how I stumbled upon Pure Barre Georgetown. I absolutely love it now - it’s a low impact, full body physical AND mental workout that strengthens and tones the right places I didn’t even know needed it. My favorite part is that the community is driven by individuals not competing with each other - but supporting each other as we simply compete with ourselves to be better and stronger than the day before. What inspired you to become a teacher? Every good former teacher I’ve had inspires me to teach. Some of the most fun, difficult, and rewarding times in my life have been within the realm of performing arts, fitness, and wellness. As a licensed psychotherapist, I most enjoy helping clients develop their mind-body connection because sometimes, “mental health is not all in your head!” Each class I teach is an opportunity for me to encourage clients on their wellness journey and bring support and acceptance along the way. What is your favorite format or body part to teach? To take: Pure Barre Empower, because I feel… Empowered! To teach: Pure Barre Classic as it’s such a well-rounded full-body and low impact workout. It might sound silly but my favorite section of Classic is the warmup. It’s the place where you warm up the body, dominate the moves, and get your head in the game. A great warm up sets you up for a great workout. What would you say to someone who is brand-new to PB? Best. Decision. Ever! It may not really make sense for the first few classes, but your body will start to get it. You’ll see changes in your mind and body soon. But seriously - MAKE FRIENDS and keep coming. What are your hobbies? I enjoy a good cup of tea, traveling with family, and going on long bike rides. Fun fact about yourself? I’ve been playing drums for 20+ years.
